How to incorporate affirmations in your daily routine

Have you heard that thinking positively can alter how you feel and can positively impact you reaching your dreams.

It is a very commonly know idea that talking to yourself in a positive way can improve your overall mood, but there are so many ways to do this.

Positive affirmations are one way to talk to yourself in a positive way.  Affirmations can be an easy way you can positively control your own thoughts and challenge any negative thinking.

This post will help you to incorporate affirmations into your morning routine. In this post, I'll be sharing some tips on how you can incorporate affirmations into your morning routine and start your day off on the right foot. So, grab your cup of coffee and let's get started!

What are affirmations?

Affirmations are short, powerful statements. They allow you to consciously be in control of your thoughts. An affirmation is carefully constructed to have the most impact. When you say them or think them, they become the thoughts that shape your reality.

My favourite examples:

  • I am not pushed by my problems; I am led by my dreams.
  • I am grateful for everything I have in my life.
  • I am independent and self-sufficient.
  • I can be whatever I want to be

Find a routine that works for you

Your morning routine helps you to prepare for the day ahead, adding a time for affirmations can really give you the boost you need to start your day off right.

You likely already have a routine that includes nourishing your body (with breakfast) and getting yourself ready for the day (having a shower and getting dressed and put together), positive affirmations can be added by taking a few extra minutes in the morning.

Here is an example of a morning routine that includes a space for positive affirmations.
6:00am-6:30am breakfast
-I have 3 children, they wake up here and I give them their breakfast.
6:30am-7:00am move my body (this is usually a YouTube video on stretching or a short low impact workout)
-Here I usually ask my children to start getting ready for the day.
7:00am-7:30am shower and get dressed
7:30am-7:45am positive affirmations
7:45am-8:15am help my children finish getting ready for their day.

This routine may not work for you, everyone will like at add their own spin on their morning routine. It’s important to create a morning routine that makes sense to you and includes everything that helps you feel refreshed and rest for the day ahead.

Ways to practice affirmations

There are so many ways to bring positive affirmations into morning routine. Some are free and simple to get started and some will require you to purchase items.

Affirmation cards are specifically designed cards that you can purchase. Please feel free to download my free affirmation cards

Print a list you curate and say them out loud.

Add them to your mirror and recite them out as you get ready for the day.

Tape yourself saying a list of affirmations and have it playing in the morning. Hearing yourself every morning could be a really strong way to start your day.

Write about the affirmation in your journal. Choose an affirmation and write about it in a journal entry.

You could find a way that works well for you or try a few different ways. The idea is to not be a practice that makes your morning routine exhaustive.

Once you’ve created a morning routine that work for you, you are ready for the rest of your day.
