Using affirmations in motherhood can be a powerful tool to help you stay positive and focused. 


As a mother you are bombarded with a million things as soon as you wake up, affirmations can help you slow down and really narrow your thinking. 





Affirmations can be used to help you stay motivated and empowered as a mother. 



What are affirmations:

Affirmations are positive statements that you can repeat to yourself throughout the day in order to affirm your beliefs and values. 

Examples of affirmations could include: 

“I am a capable and loving mother”, 

“I can handle whatever comes my way”, 

“I am worthy and deserving of love”, and 

“I am strong and capable of making the right decisions for my children.” 

Taking the time to affirm yourself can be a great way to show yourself love and appreciation. Affirmations are also a great tool to reduce overwhelm. If you have a favourite positive statement, during times of stress you can say it to yourself over and over in a calm and relaxing way to help reduce those overwhelming thoughts and come back to positivity. 



Affirmations can be very powerful in motherhood, by helping you to:

  • Reprogram their negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones, which can help to improve their outlook and attitude towards parenting.
  • Cultivate self-love and self-confidence, which can make them more capable of facing the challenges of motherhood.

  • Stay focused on their goals and take positive action to achieve them.
  • Be a source of inspiration and motivation, helping mothers to stay motivated even when they feel overwhelmed with their parenting responsibilities.





How can you incorporate affirmations into your routine:

I know that motherhood can be tough and it's easy to lose sight of our own needs when we're taking care of everyone else. Here are five simple ways you can incorporate affirmations into your daily routine:

  1. Write them down: Take a few minutes each day to write down some positive affirmations that resonate with you. You can write them in a journal, on a sticky note, or even on your phone. The act of physically writing them down can help reinforce them in your mind and make them feel more real.
  2. Say them out loud: Once you've written down your affirmations, take some time to say them out loud to yourself. You can say them to yourself in the mirror, while you're getting ready in the morning, or even while you're driving. Speaking your affirmations out loud can help you internalise them and make them a part of your daily mindset.
  3. Use them as mantras: When you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, repeat your affirmations to yourself like a mantra. This can help calm your mind and bring you back to a place of positivity and self-love.
  4. Share them with your children: Affirmations aren't just for adults! Share some positive affirmations with your children and encourage them to say them to themselves when they're feeling down or anxious. This can be a great way to teach your kids about the power of positive self-talk.

I've put together a list of 20 affirmations specifically tailored to mums. Repeat these to yourself daily to help you stay positive, motivated, and grounded.

  6. It's okay to take a break and focus on my own needs.
  7. I am a great mum, even when I don't feel like it.
  8. My children are a blessing, and I am grateful for them every day.
  9. I am worthy of love and respect, both from myself and others.
  10. It's okay to let go of perfection and embrace imperfection.
  11. My children learn from my mistakes and grow stronger because of them.
  12. I am allowed to set boundaries and say no when I need to.

  15. I am worthy of self-care and taking time for myself.

  19. My love for my children is unconditional, and I am proud of that.
  20. It's okay to not have all the answers, and to seek help when I need it.

One way to use affirmation cards is to incorporate them into your morning routine. Take a few minutes each day to draw a card and reflect on its message. You can also keep a few cards in your purse or wallet to refer to throughout the day when you need a pick-me-up.
